PANEL DISCUSSION: “BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND ACADEMIA IN MICROWAVES AND ANTENNAS”
Academia and industry have different missions. Each has different goals and ideas. The fast pace of innovation in the field of Antenna and Microwave is forcing these two sectors to work together to tackle real-world problems. It is noticeable that young professionals experience some uncertainty going from university to industry life; therefore, this panel shall include engaging experiences from people in the industry and stimulating advice from academic candidates.

MEET-UP
Interesting gathering for Young Professional to network more and personally meet with the panelists right after the panel to foster later discussion. The gathering will be served with Hors d’oeuvres/finger food and refreshers. This meet-up will include AP-S YP and MTT-S Engaging talks.

ANTENNA DESIGN COMPETITION

Design Requirements
It is required to design and implement a low-cost and low-profile directive antenna with high gain to operate at Bluetooth range
The antenna is to be placed over a metallic light column
- Operating frequency: 2.4 GHz
- Maximum allowed antenna size: 10 cm x 5 cm
- Antenna to be fed with 90 degrees SMA connector
- Antenna Impedance
Evaluation Method
- Compact size
- High Gain
- Measure the Received Signal Strength over a line of Sight (LOS) using The Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) at 1.5-2 m
- Fabrication at low-cost
Submission Requirments
- Gerber File for Antenna Design
- Report describing the project (pdf, word)

All submitted projects’ members will be invited to the panel and meet-up event on the 7th of February , 2022.
